Origin
Named by Malaspina during his visit in 1793 after Don Filipe Bauza, the officer of the armed boat which partially surveyed the Sound. Bauza was the official director of charts and maps, and conducted the astronomical observations on the voyage.
Description
Island at the entrance to Doubtful Sound/Patea, south of Secretary Island.
